What we offer at Southlands Nursery

Southlands Nursery is a hidden gem in the village of Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme. We are a small, family-run business, providing a home-from-home experience in caring, stimulating, and enriching environments for children aged 0 to 5 years of age.

Set over two wonderful locations, our children have all they need to develop their bright minds for their bright futures.

Founded in 1989, Southlands Nursery enjoys an excellent and unparalleled reputation at both our creche and kindergarten.

In our home-from-home setting, the commitment begins from the owners, who invest heavily in staff development and opportunities for the children.

Each of our four managers have over 30 years’ experience within Southlands, in which lies extensive skills and experience to support children with additional needs.

Most importantly, we have lots of love and care to match the expertise – and we are proud of our children when they reflect our positive behaviours, skills, and values.

Your child’s health and well-being are our top priority, and a nutritious, balanced diet is key to their growth. At Southlands Nurseries, we provide a healthy, varied menu that meets local and national guidelines. Our cooks prepare three fresh, home-cooked meals on-site every day, using the finest ingredients. Children also enjoy growing their own produce in our gardening club, giving them hands-on experience and exposure to a wide variety of tastes.

Our curriculum is based upon years of experience of planning for children and with children. We support children with special educational needs, and children who are learning English as an additional language. We celebrate individual needs.

Our curriculum focuses on the Early Years Foundation Stage and we focus on delivering as much as possible in our beautiful and self-contained outdoor garden and community spaces, with daily outings to local areas.

We pride ourselves in delivering continuity for our children with small groups, allocated key workers, and excellent transitions all the way up to school.

We are an all-year-round provision, supporting working parents. We open 49 weeks of the year, and children attend a minimum of 3 days for full sessions, between 7:35am and 5:45pm, Monday to Friday.

Full-day sessions enable children to settle well, access the full breadth of our curriculum, and enjoy continuity of care with their key workers, who also work full days.

Absolutely amazing all staff are very friendly, approachable, informative and supportive. Our little boy has come on leaps and bounds since being at the nursery. They take the children out daily for walks, weekly swimming sessions and other activities. The learning activities on site are second to none. Our daughter loves her time at the nursery and that's all thanks to the hardworking staff. They keep us informed about any concerns they have for example if they think your child is unwell. There is good communication and I have never felt that I cannot ring if I have been worried about leaving my little one, especially at the start! Everything about Southlands Nursery is first class, from the facilities, staff, food, events and activities, I would recommend Southlands to anyone.

Southlands is such a lovely family orientated childcare setting. It is a home from home for all the children. The ladies are all great and my daughter really enjoys herself. Southlands goes above and beyond to entertain and look after the children taking them on day trips, swimming walks and the children spend endless amount of time in the lovely garden.

Fantastic, friendly and lovely staff at both the Nursery and Kindergarten, both my sons are currently at the Nursery and Kindergarten, both love going and myself and my wife could not be happier with all the staff and the owner. I would highly recommend the Nursery & Kindergarten to all my friends and family with littleones.

The kindergarten exceeds all expectations, it provides excellent educational facilities, the staff are excellent with the children, they provide a loving fun place where they can learn play and enjoy themselves and grow into their own little personalities an amazing kindergarten. Well done to the manager and her amazing team.
