About our wonderful crèche
Southlands Crèche is situated in the grounds of St. Margaret’s school in the heart of Wolstanton, homed securely in the Grade II listed Old School House.
For children from birth to 3 years, our curriculum focuses on the EYFS Prime Areas: Communication and Language, Physical Development, and Personal, Social & Emotional Development. Children learn through play with stories, music, rhymes and rich daily interactions. We explore outdoors every day and enjoy opportunities such as minibus trips, weekly swimming and yoga to enrich their learning and spark curiosity.
With extensive Early Years expertise and real-life experience, our staff team genuinely care for every child. As a small setting, we build strong key-worker relationships and offer a personalised approach to each child’s learning and development. Children are nurtured in a warm, home-from-home environment where traditional values are cherished. We help them learn to share, care for one another, and show love and respect in all they do.
At Southlands, all learning is rooted in play, offering children variety, stimulation, and the freedom to choose their activities—including free-flow access to our beautiful, secure garden. We share children’s achievements and daily experiences with parents through face-to-face handovers, regular open-evenings and updates on our Famly App. Our strong relationships with parents and extended families allow us to genuinely appreciate the innocence and unique moments of early childhood.
Food glorious food
Your child’s health and well-being are our top priority, and a nutritious, balanced diet is key to their growth. At Southlands Nurseries, we provide a healthy, varied menu that meets local and national guidelines. Our cooks prepare three fresh, home-cooked meals on-site every day, using the finest ingredients. Children also enjoy growing their own produce in our gardening club, giving them hands-on experience and exposure to a wide variety of tastes.

Safety and Peace of Mind
At Southlands Kindergarten, the safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of what we do. Both our Crèche and Kindergarten are equipped with a LifeVac and a defibrillator, giving parents complete peace of mind that we’re ready for any emergency, however unlikely.
Our teams are fully trained and confident in using this equipment – part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care, safety, and peace of mind for every child in our care.
