About our wonderful Kindergarten
Southlands Kindergarten is situated in the 1/3 of an acre of beautiful self-contained gardens. The land contains a beautiful Scandinavian-style nursery, a separate outdoor classroom, Forest School area, gardening area and space for children to run, climb and explore the outdoors.
Learning
Our unique environment is bespoke to children age 3 to 5 years where our curriculum focuses on learning through play with an emphasis on outdoor learning. We provide sunhats and raincoats to ensure we enjoy outdoors whatever the weather.
Our curriculum is based upon the EYFS and uses a variety of approaches to engage children and provide a wealth of opportunities to build knowledge and skills. This includes our Forest School, Spanish classes, swimming lessons, yoga and more.
Our children learn with adults who have a broad range of experience and expertise.
Love
We have over 70 years experience at Southlands Nurseries just within our management team.
They are passionate about ensuring that all children are nurtured, happy and settled; enabling them to build beautiful relationships and personal, social and emotional skills that will take them through life.
We embrace difference and diversity and ensure that children with SEND are able to thrive and have equal opportunities to reach their potential.
Laughter
All learning at Southlands is built around play, providing variety and stimulation which includes child choice and free flow within our beautiful secure garden areas, where children share picnics, stories and gardening experiences with friends.
Our gardens are where we invite families to join us in their children’s experiences with Summer Concerts and Sports Days.
Even our meal times focus on sharing, building skills and independence and social times with peers.
Our varied curriculum allows learning, love and laughter to be at the heart of all that we provide.

Our Kindergarten provides full daycare from 7.35am to 5.45pm. It is truly a hidden gem within the heart of a small village in Newcastle Under Lyme. We have stayed a small nursery to retain our values around truly knowing our children and their families. We offer an experience that prepares the children for school and much more.
We are community-focused and enjoy exploring our wider environment. We venture out on our mini bus on day trips, strawberry picking and swimming in order to replicate the rich experiences that our predominantly working parents strive for. We value the basics of manners, hearty food and embracing equality and diversity. For this reason, we have next generations of families returning to Southlands.

We inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. We are proud of our record & achievements with Ofsted & value it as the critical part in attaining high standards in the provision of care we provide for your children.

At Southlands Kindergarten, the safety and wellbeing of every child is at the heart of what we do. Both our Crèche and Kindergarten are equipped with a LifeVac and a defibrillator, giving parents complete peace of mind that we’re ready for any emergency, however unlikely.
Our teams are fully trained and confident in using this equipment – part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care, safety, and peace of mind for every child in our care.
